Terms and agreements

This mare is of the highest ranking within the KFPS and offspring out of her have a responsibility to further the breed in both breeding, and representation of the breed in Keurings and general show for sport. We know situations happen that restrict this from happening however purchasing an embryo implies that you understand these terms and the reasons why they are important for offspring of this quality.

Colts will remain intact till they have shown at the KFPS keuring 2 times as adults to try for star or approval or till they are 7 years old

o If a colt is invited to testing and the owner does not have the funding to take the stallion to testing the Seller (Maiko 373 inc) will pay for the testing in exchange for partial ownership of the colt. Should the testing result in approval the co-ownership will remain and the stallion will stand at stud with either of the co-owners.

o If a colt is approved Maiko 373 inc has rights to up to 10 breedings a calendar year to this approved stallion for Mares owned by Maiko 373 inc or it’s affiliates, Chris Sable and Allison Gelfand. Collection costs and registration fees to be paid by Maiko 373 inc., the seller. LFG to transfer to the next year if a foal is lost and will not count against the 10 breedings a year.

Colts will be trained to participate in the IBOP or to attempt to achieve sport status.

Colts do not need to be gelded if not approved, however there are different registrations for foals by non-approved stallions.

Fillies will be retained or sold for the intention of breeding. Fillies must show at the keuring at minimum 2 times as adults to try for star with the goal of achieving the Crown or Model title, which includes the IBOP or sport title. Fokelien the dam got an 83 on her IBOP, this is a strong mother line.

Foal keurings are optional, the foal must attend the keuring with the recipient mare as their companion, but this has been done many times before and the judges are used to seeing this situation.

Recipient mares if returned must be in good body condition suitable for re-implanting another embryo. Of a body score of not less than 3 out of 5. Health records showing proof of worming, vaccinations and hoof trims while the mare was not in our care showing that her health was tended to as if she was at our location being cared for. Any medical conditions encountered must be disclosed on return so that proper care can be given to the mare on arrival here. Transport of the recipient mare to and from Maiko 373 inc.’s facility is at the cost of the embryo buyer.

**** There are no pregnancy guarantees, or live foal guarantees. SO please consider Insurance

INSURANCE

There are many companies out there. ** Rates are subject to change and contact people also. This is only a courtesy to show that there are options for insurance.  In March 2016 we have contacted Jarvis Kimberly M. Jarvis <kimberlyjarvis@jarvisinsurance.com>. The information provided was as follows:

Thank you for contacting Jarvis Insurance for the coverage we offer on embryos.  Please find the rating schedule below:

40 – 59 Days 18%

60 – 89 Days 14%

90 – 149 Days 12%

150 Days and over 10%

You can value the unborn foal for all the costs securing the recipient mare in foal to include stud fee, transfer fees, etc.   This coverage begins at the number of days in foal you wish to begin and covers this foal through gestation, foaling, and continues until the foal reaches 30 days of age.  To incept coverage a completed application and satisfactory pregnancy exam with an ultra sound stating the foal is alive with a heartbeat.  I have attached these forms.

A less expensive route to go is to insure the recipient mare for the value of the unborn foal.  This coverage only covers death to the recipient and carrying the unborn foal at death.  The rate is based on the breed of the recipient, normally averaging at 3%.   Mortality on the recip mare does not provide the extensive coverage as the unborn coverage but is a way to partially cover some of the risks involved.
